I can still vividly
recall my younger self staring into darkest of nights, asking myself how it
would feel like to drift aimlessly into space, to float under zero gravity. I'm
not sure if you too had similar thoughts, but i can assure you that i did, and after going for
a flotation session; i now have a rough gauge on how it might feel like.
I did my flotation
session at the Palm Avenue Float Club, whereby every "floater" gets
an assigned room containing a flotation pod and shower corner. Each pod
contains a shocking 500 kilos worth of dissolved Epsom salt. It's hard to
describe the texture of the water inside but I would describe it as slimy yet
smooth at the same time.
The secret is to enter
without any expectations. To enter with a blank state of mind because the
moment you set an expectation, your mind will start to question your senses and
feelings; preventing it from going into total relaxation.
During the float you
feel light like a feather, as though you're drifting into nothingness. It feels
weird, not because you're floating but because you aren't drowning.
Upon completion you
feel blank. It feels as if you've hit a reset button, your mind refreshed and
revitalized. The full effects only come in 2-3 hours later. Different people
gets different results, no flotation is ever the same. This is because every
single factor plays a part in the outcome of your float; from the amount of
sleep you received the night before to the type of activities done on that day
and even your state of mind during the session.
Overall I'd really
recommend it, you don't have to sign up for a package, just go for single
session and decide from then.
